Tip Install X-Lite VOiP SIP Phone in Ubuntu
X-Lite is a VOiP application made by http://www.counterpath.com/
it allows configuration via SIP protocol.
Download the application and then
# tar -zxvf X-Lite_Install.tar.gz
# cd xten-xlite
# chmod +x xtensoftphone
#./xtensoftphone
It will give an error:
./xtensoftphone: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
It requires the libstdc++.so.5 so install it via apt:
# apt-get install libstdc++5
# apt-get install alsa-oss
but I must say that this runs on Ubuntu 8.10 hardy.
Meanwhile, when I use Ubuntu LTS 10.04.2, can not function when an error occurs
sudo apt-get install libstdc + +. so.5
[sudo] password for zullfree:
Reading package lists … Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information … Done
E: Couldn’t find package libstdc + +. so.5
So I try to look for other alternatives SIPPhone software and I found QuteCom.
The install is easy as it’s part of the Ubuntu Community Software (Universe) and that means it can be installed via apt-get, Software Center or Synaptic.
Qutecom configuration
The QuteCom interface seems quite workable as well as having a number of other instant messaging options available.
