The Easy Way to Configure Motorola Canopy Backhaul

Motorola Canopy is one of Radio Wireless devices are good enough that no field current. For the purposes of backhaul, the equipment is not much. Only the following radio antenna and power supply already in the system Adapator using PoE (Power over Ethernet). Motorola Canopy equipment is connected to the LAN network through RG-45 connector under the Motorola Canopy.

Here is my note about Motorola Canopy backhaul configuration is in my memory :

As for the configuration of this Motorola Canopy 3 most important things for us to configure are:

* Frequency
* Synchronization
* Network IP Address

Canopy is very flexible, can be used to create a simple network up to the complex. Because if you want to create a complex network of the option2nya available.

To be able to communicate, each AP or BH Master (in this case BH canopy can be set as Master and Slave) to the set frequency. And in choosing frekuanse if there are several AP or BH should be separate to Master between 20MHZ ato 25MHz to prevent interference. And to overcome this could be the separation of these, and if there are radio (ie: AP 360 degrees) can then synchronize the emission from the radio. Because this will make Motorola Canopy radiate and receive signals at the same time interval. What can be done by using the Canopy Cluster Management Module `s (CMM) or use the sync cable (use rg-11 6pin and entered the right port at the bottom of the Motorola Canopy)

As for the default IP used Motorola Canopy:
IP Address: 169.254.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default GW: 169.254.0.0

Enabling the Backhaul Timing Master.

To activate the timing master at Motorola Canopy backhaul can dilakukakan on the configuration, in which there are Timing Mode menu has 2 choices of Timing Timing Master and Slave. The default of the Motorola Canopy usually Timing Slave so we need to switch to the Master Timing.

Once we activate Timing Master, then we must nge-save and refresh the appearance of the browser and only then we reboot. After that some important things we need to configure are:

* RF Frequency Carrier, where the value defaults to “none” and we must choose one of the existing frequency. Should be set different from other radio frequency skitar 25MHz to avoid mutual interference.
* Password to view and change the configuration.
* Color Code, which must be the same between the Master and Slave

Then we can ngeset Site Name, Site Contact, and Site Location for radio information. Or we can also ngeset Airlink Security, encryption can be enabled to make it more secure, or SM Scan Privacy disable so we can not backhaul the AP Eval displaying backhaul data or Subscrible Slave Module (SM).

The next menu is how to set IP, here we can ngeset IP Address, subnet mask, and IP Gateway LAN interface.

Configuring Backhaul Timing Slave on

Backhaul Timing Slave configuration is simpler than the Timing Master. In the Status menu we can see Motorola Canopy as a client, we usually will see Session Status, Registered AP, RSSI and Power Level Radio.
We used to set the Slave Timing is:

  • Custom RF Frequency, where we can setup for Motorola Canopy Channel Scanning on how aja.
  • Color Code, which must be the same color code with which we set the Timing Master.
  • Password to view and change the configuration.
  • Then we can set another IP address, subnet mask, and IP Gateway LAN interface.

The next menu in the Motorola Canopy is a test link menu, which in this menu we can test links that we are doing. Some of the information that we can get is:

* Connection efficiency, both uplink (from Slave to Master) and donwlink (from Master to Slave)
* Data speed

then there is the menu alignment, where we can see configuration and signal strength, jitter and the number of users who use the channels we want to try.

or we can use the menu Spectrum Analyzer to determine the channel that we want to use.
Where here we can see kira2 on how a good channel for us to use because it would appear that there is a frequency conditions around us in realtime by pressing the enable button.

Then also on the menu EAL AP data we can also see Radio2 Motorola Canopy AP and the Timing Master which is around us, so we can determine the correct frequency and does not interfere with other Motorola Canopy radios.
